Moving

Hi Y'all.
So there have been a lot of changes going on in the Burbee house. Our big news is....We are moving. Yep, you heard right. Moving.. to Kansas City, Missouri. I will begin posting news about our family as well as Stampin' Up! creative things I make on this blog.
This school year has been torture, hell, very trying for me. I stepped down from my duties as PTA president at the school. It's been nice. Not having to be responsible. Back in January, Davin and I went to his sweet step-mom's funeral. It was peaceful to just get away. We had some laughs, tears, joy, mourning, and pure honest talks with one another. We needed that more than I can express. When we got back home, it was back to the ho-hum everday life here. There is a lot of pain and hurt here. One day while talking with Davin, I brought up the idea of moving to him. I've brought this up before and he wasn't going to budge. So.... he surprised me when he agreed that this is what we need. Fresh start. New life. New friends. New church. New home. Peace.
Our next step involved putting our house up for sale. After being on the market for 3 weeks, we had a buyer. I tried not to stress eveytime someone came to look at our house. I'm anal OCD control freak impatient. As much as I kept telling God that I was okay, I wasn't. I was terrified. I'm still terrified. I'm scared of leaving what I've known my whole life. But, I'm also excited. I'm excited for the closeness of our little family. Having to rely on no one other than my husband. Fresh Start.
Yes, I will miss my close friends dearly. I will miss my mom. My brother. Davin's family. My little house on a quiet street. A place to call home.
We won't be moving until the end of May, first of June. We want the kids to finish school here before we move.
So....there you have it. Our current story. I will try my best in being diligent to keep this blog updated. Please feel free to leave comments. Nice comments. Encouraging comments. If you post something negative, I will be forced to delete your comment.  :-)

Even the naughty deserve something nice!

I made these cute little Christmas treats for the wonderful staff at Central Elementary! I love the versatility of the "Two Tags" die cut! Add a mini Hershey bar and a snowflake on top! A little something for all their hard work!
These little treats are made with the "Candy Wrapper" die cut! I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Big Shot. If you don't own one, you should! I made these for the custodians and cafeteria workers at the school! Nothing like spreading "Christmas Cheer"!

Bon Jour Paris!

I love Effiel Towers, Paris, Black & Pink! I especially LOVE it when it's in an ornament! I made this cute ornament this evening and I'm extrememly happy with the way it turned out! I heat embossed on a window sheet. I used "Artistic Etchings" stamp set (my fav!)
I then added some feathers from a boa, trimmed down to size! Add some ribbon and Qui! Ooh La La!! I <3 it! I added some "bling" rhinestones to the outside to give it that extra oomph!

Thanksgiving Treat

Sorry I've been MIA for a while. I am the PTA President at my children's elementary school. So needless to say, I've been swamped.
I chair the Teacher Appreciation committee at the school as well, and for every holiday I make a little something for the staff.
For Thanksgiving, I made these cute cookie holders. These were made with..are you ready for this?.....paper CD holder sleeves! Yep! How cool is that? Super easy and super simple!
Thanks for stopping by!

Non-Convention Card Swap

July 13-16th was Stampin' UP!'s convention. I was unable to attend yet again this year, so I organized a Non-Convention swap for those of us demos that couldn't attend convention. I made this cute little card. Pinwheels seem to be very popular right now, and I think they are just adorable!

I also made these cute name tags for each woman that attended our shoebox swap.

Surprise and Delight INKDemos Retreat

This past weekend my INKDemos group had a Surprise and Delight Stampin' Retreat! It was a blast! I was asked if I would be a guest presenter. I showed this fun technique using the PetalCone Die. Right now, the Petal Cone Die is on the Carryover list, but it will be in the NEW 2011-2012 Catalog.

When I first saw this die, I thought I could live without it! I was SO wrong. I just had to have it when I saw this cool technique.

These are just a few the samples I made using the Petal Cone Die. I had so much fun showing other Stampin' Up! Demonstrators this neat idea. I can not take credit for coming up with this design. I honestly don't know who came up with the idea, but I'm glad they shared their idea! I LOVE my job!
